Understanding the problem
One of the biggest challenges facing NFT marketplaces is the complexity of the purchasing process. Many users are unfamiliar with the nuances of blockchain technology and may be intimidated by the process of buying an NFT. Additionally, the process of buying an NFT can be slow and inefficient, as it often involves multiple steps and interactions with different parties. This complexity combined with user’s uncertainty and miss trust informed that we needed earmark simplicity and trust at the core of all decision making.
Understanding the user
To better understand the needs and pain points of our users, we conducted user research through surveys, interviews, and user testing. We found that users are looking for a simple and intuitive purchasing experience. Many referencing existing payment journeys from popular online retailers as good experiences and processes they trusted. They also want transparency and security throughout the process.
Affinity mapping
We used affinity mapping to organise and analyse our user research data. We grouped data points into categories such as "Ease of Use" and "Security" and identified common themes and pain points. This helped us to understand the most important needs and priorities of our users.
Product vision & solution
Based on our research, we developed a product vision for an NFT marketplace that prioritises simplicity, transparency, and security. Our solution would feature a streamlined purchasing flow that makes it easy for users to buy NFTs, with tools for managing their NFTs and tracking their transactions to come in future upgrades.
Wireframes & Early Designs
We created wireframes and designs for the MVP, focusing on a clean and intuitive user interface. We also included design elements that emphasise security and transparency.
Results & Takeaways
The MVP was successfully launched and received positive feedback from users. We learned that by focusing on simplicity, transparency, and security, we were able to create a purchasing flow that is easy to understand and use, even for those unfamiliar with blockchain technology. Additionally, by using user research and affinity mapping, we were able to identify and prioritise the needs of our users, resulting in a more effective and user centred solution.
